This month, Habitat ReStore on the Donore Road collaborated with local DIY-lover and businesswoman Beverley ( to host a live furniture up-cycling demonstration.

The event engaged local people s eager to learn about creative reuse and sustainability. The event, held at the store located on Donore Road, featured Beverley, founder of, showcasing her upcycling skills by giving a new lease of life to her recent ReStore find.

Attendees had the opportunity to witness first-hand the transformation of an old-fashioned side table into a stylish and functional piece, demonstrating the potential for creative reuse in everyday life. The event also highlighted the importance of supporting social enterprises like ReStore Drogheda, which diverts reusable materials from landfill and promotes a circular economy.

Beverley said, “Upcycling furniture has been a popular trend for a long time now and is one of those trends that will never go out of fashion. To reuse an item of furniture that has been purchased in a store like Habitat ReStore has so many benefits to customers and the environment. Not only are they saving good quality items from being dumped in landfills, but the low prices mean it is good for customers while helping benefit those in need. It’s a win, win for everyone involved!”

The demonstration, which was free and open to all, exemplified Habitat for Humanity's commitment to reuse and sustainability. ReStore tackles poverty in Ireland by providing families with access to low-cost home improvement materials, offering training and employability support and diverting tons of reusable material from landfill.

Andy Drummond, Manager of ReStore Drogheda, said, “It was great to collaborate with Beverley again. Her passion for reuse and sustainability aligns with ReStore’s mission to build sustainable community. Every year, ReStores across Ireland divert more than 1,500 tonnes of reusable material from landfill and we operate a free collection service in Louth & Meath! Give us a call when you’re next having a clear out.”
