During Volunteers Week, we're sharing the stories of those who give their time each week in ReStore. Ready Autumn's story below.

Autumn has been volunteering in ReStore Newry since February. She first heard about volunteering at ReStore through her mum, who is a regular customer. Once she learned more about the opportunity, she was excited to get started, “It’s great to have something that keeps me busy and gets me out of the house.”

She began coming two days a week, and loves coming back to the store each week. Autumn said;

“I get on well with the staff and other volunteers, it’s really helped me to build my confidence. It’s given me a purpose and I’ve definitely learned a lot.”

You’ll most often find Autumn working on the till, or pricing and barcoding in the warehouse. “It’s a great routine for me, and it’s good to get the chance to talk to lots of new people. The customers are great, it’s fun getting to know the regulars and having a chat.”

We asked Autumn what she would say to someone who was thinking about signing up to volunteer in ReStore. She said, “It’s a great way to get out of the house and meet new people. It really has boosted me confidence and taught me new skills. I really look forward to seeing what I’ll learn next because every day is a bit different”.
