Stephanie has volunteered with Habitat since 2014 and travelled to Ethiopia and Romania alongside volunteering at local events like Summer Madness and New Horizon. Read her Advent reflection below.
As I prepare for Christmas and the excitement of time with family and the joy of Christmas carols, mince pies and all things festive, the Christmas lights are a reminder of the light that shines in the darkness and of hope and love through God bringing that light into our lives with the birth of Jesus and through his death and resurrection. Advent is a time for reflection of the true meaning of Christmas and for me a time in which a verse has particular importance to me.
“And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love” 1 Corinthians 13:13
As I think back to my time volunteering with Habitat at the heart of everything was the ethos of Habitat- putting God’s love into action. The work of Habitat allows us to stand together and to share God’s love and hope for the future, to be a light in the world and my prayer is for this to continue to be a blessing to others throughout the world.
Heavenly Father, we thank you for the gift of hope, faith and love. That you gave us love so we could love one another in faith and with hope. We pray for Habitat’s work to continue to be blessed, that we can put God’s love into action and be a light in this world. We thank you for all you have blessed us with. Amen.
